The sled dogs become excellent pack-dogs
on this trekking tour. The tour is off tracks in easy terrain and
demands normal good physical fitness. Each participant is responsible for one dog which will carry
7 - 10 kg
of your luggage. Only sleeping bag, sleeping mat and your clothing you
have to carry in your own rucksack. Some great fishing can be done in the numerous lakes, streams and rivers.
5 nights will be spent - everyone together - in a "lavvu" (a Sámi tent) with an
open fire. Daily distances will be between 15-17 km. Learn about nature and
outdoor life from your guide.

Day 1.
Program start with dinner. The
guide will have the first briefing
regarding
the tour
Day 2. The
morning is spent provision our equipment and your guide are learning
you the basics of handling pack dogs. It's
time for a visit to the Sámi Museum and the Sami center in Karasjok.
Once your personal affects have been packed properly, you are off. We are walking through
birch forest, crossing small streams and along lakes. We spend the
night in a "lavvu" (traditional sami tent) with open fire
Day 3. We are hiking northwards
on barren land, a fascinating landscape where your view is endless.
Here the landscape is scanty and windswept. In the evening we will stop
for the night at a lake on the tree line, that hopefully give us fresh
fish for dinner.
Day 4. The
tour continues east. A fascinating landscape, scanty and windswept.
This area is a important winter pasture for reindeers. Some reindeer
herders are in the area during winter time but now they are on the
coast. We end the night at Caddjejavri, in beautiful birch forest.
Here we
will spend the following two nights. The guide will be setting out
fishing nets from a small boat.
Day5. In the morning, the nets
will be drawn and we will be cleaning, salting and smoking the fish
over the open fire in the "lavvo". A short daytrip will be
made to explore the nearby countryside. The evening meal will consist
of the smoked self catch fish.
Day
6. You can choose between a boat trip out to the main road or
walking on the path along the lake. It will be transport by coach back
to Engholm Husky Lodge. Shower and sauna is waiting for us
and we end the tour gathered in the warm atmosphere to have a farewell
dinner.
Day 7.
The program end at breakfast.
