A
guide will lead from wilderness lodge to wilderness lodge. All your
luggage are loaded onto a big dogsled so you can ski comfortably.
Daily distances are 22-33 km. Accommodation during the ski tour in
wilderness cabins, before and after the tour on Engholm's
Husky lodge. The various
and open Arctic tundra landscape is perfect for skiing. We will visit
a Sámi reindeer herder and his family at their winter quarters and
their herds. Combined with the ski tour is
one day included stopover
to take part in the traditional Sámi Easter Festival in Karasjok.

Day
1:
Program start with evening meal. The
guide will have the first briefing
regarding the tour.
Day
2: All equipment will be loaded on a big dogsled, which will be driven by
the guide. The sled is pulled by about 14 sled dogs. You will only be
carrying a light rucksack for thermos, lunch pack and extra pullover.
After a steep climb up we are passing over a hilly stretch, crossing
lakes, marshes to
Gardin
mountain cabin.
Day
3: We reach the tundra, a fascinating landscape where the view is endless
at all directions. Here the landscape is scanty and windswept. In the
evening we will arrive at Mollisjok
mountain cabin. It is a "jewel" on
the plateau.
Day
4: The tour continues
southwards on the river and we are passing two remote settlements. The Sámi
people that live here get their outcome mainly from fishing. We
finish the day by crossing a big lake and find Soussjavre
mountain cabin
at the
other end of the lake.
Day
5: The area we are skiing through is a very important winter pasture for
reindeers. Sometimes it is possible to see large reindeer-herds. After a
long down hill to the Karasjok valley, we rich Baeivasgiedde
smal wilderness
cabin which is beautifully situated next to the river.
Day
6: This day we will visit a Sámi reindeer herder and his family at
the winter pasture. We will join in a meal with him and the other
herders. Interesting day to get now how about the Sámi culture. A second
night will be spent at Baeivasgiedde.
Day
7: A long stretch along the river to Beskenjarg, the roads end. A couch will
bring you to the lodge.
A
warm sauna is waiting for us at the lodge, and we end the tour gathered in
the warm atmosphere to have a farewell supper.
Day
8: The Easter Saturday is to your
own disposition. A unique way to experience the traditional Easter
Festival in Karasjok with the Sámi people in their national costumes.
Day
9: The program end at breakfast.
