Tour of the Year

A special and unique adventure, suitable for experienced outdoor people looking for something special. A good level of fitness, concentration and balance is needed.

How we travel

The tour is unique and is guided and designed by Sven. Thanks to his experience and knowledge of the area, it is a pleasure for him to show you the best of it. Relish the chance to learn new skills and to live life to the fullest. You will lead your "own" team of 6–8 dogs, which makes it necessary to require good physical shape from the participants on this expedition.

Day by day plan

Day 1

The programme starts with dinner at 19.00. Then Sven gives you all the information about the tour and lets you know where it is going. He keeps that open until then, because he wants to provide the very best dog-sledding experience, depending on the weather and snow conditions. The nights are spent in a tent — and maybe some nights in a cabin.

Day 2

The day is spent fitting out snowsuits, boots and other equipment, organising the teams of huskies and learning the basics of caring for your team and driving the sleds. We check the equipment and make the last preparations for the expedition, making sure that the mushers are matched with their teams of huskies.

Days 3–7

The expedition goes far off the beaten track, using the freedom that sled dogs give, and provides new and interesting mushing experiences in new areas. The nights are spent in a tent, and maybe some nights in a cabin.

After five days of dog sledding a shower is waiting for us at Engholm Lodge, and we end the tour gathered for dinner in a warm atmosphere. We have a cosy wood-fired sauna ready on request for those tempted — maybe with the northern lights above.

Day 8

The programme ends after breakfast. It is worth considering staying a few extra days for other activities as a lodge guest before or after the tour.
