Visit the Summer Sled Dog Camp on the Island

A special experience you will never forget. Let us share the wonderful enthusiasm of the sled dogs with you, and come to understand the special relationship between us and the dog. We keep thirty of our friendly sled dogs on an island; twice a day they swim and run free. Only 20 minutes' drive from Karasjok.

How the day goes

From about 15 July to 15 August you have the opportunity to experience the sled dogs from Engholm Husky while they are on their summer holiday on an island in the middle of a lake. The lake is only 20 minutes' drive from Karasjok, on the way to Lakselv and the North Cape. The programme includes the boat trip from the road to the "dog island", and socialising with the dogs — experiencing their interaction with their handlers when they are let loose and allowed to move around freely. Cold and hot drinks are served around the campfire.

Good to know

Overnight: we suggest that you consider extending the experience to an overnight stay. This gives you time for nature walks and to take part in fishing with nets or with rods. Not suitable for children under 10 years of age.
