Raktu cabin interior with hanging stove and window to the snow
The main room

In the Arctic landscapes of Karasjok, the ground itself holds stories. One of them is Raktu, named after the Sámi word for slate. For ages, it has been shaped by ice, wind, and time, forming a stone so deeply tied to this region that it feels like a piece of the earth's memory.

Our cabin Raktu carries that memory in its very bones. The walls and floors are built from real Alta slate, sourced just a few hours from the lodge. Local, raw, and enduring. Paired with hand-built log craftsmanship, Raktu stands as a meeting point between ancient rock and living tradition.

Inside, the cabin offers a warm, modern luxury. At its centre glows a 360° fireplace, seemingly floating, suspended from the ceiling like a ring of fire hovering above the slate floor.

Situated right next to Buvri, Raktu is both a shelter and a story: a true reminder that even in a changing world, the land continues to give us materials, meaning, and a place to feel at home.
